Embedding your organisations social network into your daily workflow is crucial. Instead of thinking, “I need to do my work and then visit my social network,” shift your mindset to, “the network is helping me achieve my work goals.”
To avoid getting lost in the noise of alerts, notifications, new groups, and people joining, spend just 1 minute per month (yes, that’s all it takes!) to revisit your notifications. Ensure they are set to a frequency that suits you. Be selective about who and what groups you follow. If you have the time, do this on a weekly basis.
Here are some tips to keep your Yammer experience streamlined:
- Limit Your Follows: Aim to follow no more than 50 people and belong to no more than 20 groups. The right content and people will find you, so there’s no need to follow everyone or every group.
- Evaluate Activity: If someone isn’t active or providing valuable contributions, don’t follow them. If a group has no activity, it’s time to leave.
By following these tips, you’ll reduce the noise and make your social network experience more productive and enjoyable.
