Every year, work seems to come with a new personality setting.
Last year it was a growth mindset.
Then learner mindset.
Now it’s discovery mindset.
Next up: agile mindset, ownership mindset, founder mindset, whatever‑we’re-calling-it-by-Christmas mindset.
If you’re new, it can feel like you’ve missed a memo – or worse, that success depends on keeping up with whichever label is trending in the slide deck.
Here’s the Cappuccino Club take: the labels change, the fundamentals don’t.
Underneath all the “mindsets,” organisations are really asking for a few simple things:
- Curiosity – ask questions, even when you feel daft
- Resilience – things will wobble; keep going anyway
- Judgement – know when something doesn’t quite make sense
- Character – be reliable, even when no one’s watching
- Desire to improve – not loudly, just consistently
You don’t need a new mindset every 12 months. You need a steady core.
The people who do well aren’t the ones who perfectly mirror the latest buzzword—they’re the ones who quietly stay curious, keep learning, and don’t fall apart when things get messy.
Call it whatever you like.
The work feels the same underneath.
