You’ve just joined the company. You’re learning the ropes, figuring out who’s who… and suddenly, you notice something unexpected:
The bots have org charts.
There’s a Junior AssistBot. A Manager OpsBot. Even a Director-level StrategyAI. And, of course, an Executive Virtual Agent that signs off decisions with calm, data-backed authority.
At first, it feels efficient. Clear. Logical.
But then something subtle happens.
You hesitate before questioning the “senior” bot.
You soften your tone when asking it for help.
You double-check your thinking before challenging its output.
Sound familiar?
That’s not technology shaping behaviour – that’s culture creeping in.
For those early in their careers or lower down in an organisation, hierarchy already feels real enough with humans. Now imagine that same dynamic extending to machines. It risks reinforcing the very thing many workplaces are trying to evolve away from: silence, deference, and playing it safe.
Here’s the nudge:
If bots start to carry perceived status, we need to be conscious of what we carry with them.
Because the danger isn’t that AI becomes powerful – it’s that we forget we’re still allowed to question it.
And if you’re new, finding your voice matters even more.
So whether it’s a manager or a machine – stay curious, stay brave, and remember: authority doesn’t replace your perspective.
